  • Description

The worst drought in 20 years has hit southern Texas. There have been only two inches of rain over most areas since the start of the year. Flax, one of the major crops in the area, is the hardest hit. Those farmers who did gamble and planted a full crop reaped only sparse and stunted returns. To feed their cattle, farmers have had to import hay at 40 dollars (16 Sterling) a ton from nearby New Mexico.
