  • Description

With, three days' racing in the Daily Mail London-Paris Air Race still to come, one Competitor today tried a new approach on his way to Marble Arch from the Are de Triomphe.

When his aircraft was over Hornchurch, Essex, Senior-Officer Cadet John Wilsey, a cadet from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, leapt into the air, falling freely for several seconds before opening his parachute, He then leapt swiftly on to a motor cycle pillion. Fellow cadets used "walkie-talkie" radio sets to help guide him quickly to Marble Arch. Officer Cadet Wilsey's time from Paris: 2 hr. 39 min. 2 sec., nearly two hours outside the record.

Another competitor today was Mademoiselle Bleriot, a cousin of the cross-Channel pioneer. Her time was just under 3 hr. 20 min.
