Background: THE SITUATION IN THE CENTRAL AMERICAN STATE OF GUATEMALA IS REPORTED TO BE QUIET AGAIN FOLLOWING THE SHORT LIVED REVOLT BY THE AIR FORCE ON SUNDAY (25 NOVEMBER).

PRESIDENT MIGUEL YDIGORAS FUENTES TOOK PERSONAL CHARGE IN SUPPRESSING THE REVOLT AND ON THE DAY FOLLOWING, MONDAY (26 NOVEMBER), INSPECTED LA AURORA AIRFIELD WHERE THE UPRISING STARTED.

FOUR P-51 FIGHTERS AND TWO B-26 BOMBERS, AS USED DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR, RAIDED THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE IN GUATEMALA CITY WITH ROCKET AND MACHINE GUN FIRE. IT WAS ALL OVER IN LESS THAN FOUR HOURS WHEN THE GUATEMALAN ARMY TOOK OVER THE AIRFIELD. FOUR PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND TEN INJURED.

AT THE AIRFIELD, ABOUT 300 MEMBERS OF THE AIR FORCE GUARD WERE DISARMED AND ARRESTED. IN ADDITION MOST OF THE AIR FORCE PILOTS AND SOME HIGH RANKING OFFICERS WERE HELD. SCORES OF CIVILIAN ARRESTS HAVE ALSO FOLLOWED.

FILM SHOWS THE LANDING OF THE LAST PLANE USED BY THE REBELS; PRESIDENT YDIGORAS TALKING ON A 'PHONE IN A CAR; AND THE PRESIDENT AND SOLDIERS WALKING ON THE AIRFIELD, PAST THE AIR FORCE GUARDS.' THE PRESIDENT IS BEEN WEARING A BLACK "HOMBURG" TYPE HAT AND WITH A RIFLE FLUNG OVER HIS SHOULDER.
