    Background: The pirate radio ship Mebo Two, from which Radio North Sea International broadcasts pop music to Britain ad Europe, deranged its anchor today (November 22) and was drifting helplessly off the Dutch coast in heavy seas. As it drifted towards the coast and Dutch territorial waters, one of the station;s disc jockeys broadcast a message saying the station would cease transmission of pop music to avoid any trouble with Dutch authorities.

    A helicopter and a Dutch Air Force aircraft were standing by to rescue the crew in case of further difficulty, and two Dutch rescue boats sailed out to give assistance.

    SYNOPSIS: The Dutch Air Force stood by to rescue the crew of the pirate radio ship Mebo Two on Monday as it drifted helplessly off the Dutch coast. The ship, which houses the pop-music station "Radio North Sea International' had dragged its anchor.

    The Dutch lifeboat Bernard van Leer sailed out to give assistance and the tug Smitsbank left the Hook of Holland for the pirate radio ship. a helicopter was also standing by to rescue the crew in case of further difficulty.

    In a radio broadcast announcing the ship's difficulties, a disc jockey said the station would cease broadcasting pop music to avoid trouble with the Dutch authorities as the Mebo Two drifted towards the coast -- and Dutch territorial waters.
