    THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER, MRS. INDIRA GANDHI, HAD A MEETING WITH THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, MR. HAROLD WILSON IN LONDON TODAY (SATURDAY). MRS. GANDHI WAS EN ROUTE TO MOSCOW AFTER HAVING HAD TALKS WITH PRESIDENT JOHNSON AND THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS, U THANT IN THE UNITED STATES.

    TODAY'S MEETING BETWEEN MR. WILSON AND MRS. GANDHI WAS THEIR FIRST SINCE SHE BECAME THE INDIAN PREMIER IN JANUARY AND THE FIRST TOP MEETING BETWEEN LEADERS OF THE TWO NATIONS SINCE THE COOLING-OFF OF RELATIONS FOLLOWING THE INDO-PAKISTAN WAR. AT THEIR CONFERENCE THE TWO PREMIERS ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE DISCUSSED ANGLO-INDIAN RELATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES. MRS. GANDHI SAID AFTER THE CONFERENCE THAT SHE HAD NOT DISCUSSED ECONOMIC OR ARMS AID WITH MR. WILSON ALTHOUGH A STATEMENT ISSUED LATER BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT SAID THAT BRITAIN WILL EXAMINE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO HELP INDIA RESOLVE HER ECONOMIC PROBLEMS.

    MRS. GANDHI ARRIVED IN LONDON FROM THE UNITED STATES WHERE SHE HAD TALKS WITH PRESIDENT JOHNSON AND OTHER GOVERNMENT LEADERS. BEFORE SHE LEFT THE U.S. SHE VISITED THE UNITED NATIONS AND CONFERRED WITH THE SECRETARY GENERAL, U THANT AND LATER HAD LUNCH WITH HIM. SHE ALSO MET MEMBERS OF THE UN AFRO-ASIAN GROUP.

    THIS AFTERNOON, MRS. GANDHI LEFT LONDON AIRPORT IN A SPECIAL PLANE FOR MOSCOW WHERE SHE IS TO HAVE TALKS WITH THE SOVIET PREMIER ALEXEI KOSYGIN.
