  • Description

Chinese Peoples Republic Premier Chou En-Lai who arrived Delhi, India Apr 19, for talks on Indian-Chinese border disputes, had discussions Apr 22 with Indian Finance Minister Morarji Desai and relaxed in the evening watching a programme of dances at the home of Indian President Prasad.

The visit to Mr. Morarji Desai - regarded by some Indians as a future Premier - continued the pattern of visits to senior Cabinet ministers undertaken by the Chinese premier and Foreign Minister Chen-Yi.

President Prasad's evening entertainment - Indian dancers - was also attended by vice-President Dr. Radhakrishnan and by Premier Nehru. It followed a day's negotiating between Chou En-Lai and his Indian counterpart that is believed to have been unsuccessful, with each man unwilling to abandon basic attitudes. Both emerged from three-hours conference looking stern and tired; in fact Mr. Nehru dozed during the dances, and was only aroused by applause climaxing the performance.
