Background: An African Day Rally at Tahreer on Monday (25th May) was attended by the Vice-President of the United Arab Republic, Answar El-Sadat.

The rally was held to mark the seventh anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity. Celebrations and parades took place in many countries in Africa.

With Vice-President Sadat were representatives of liberation movements in Africa. Among them was Mr. Yousef El Sebai, Mohammed Faiek, and Mr. Toko.

In a message issued in Addis Ababa the OAU called on "countries which are powerful enough" to make the white minority regimes in Africa listen to reason.

Vice-President Sadat attended the rally on behalf of President Nasser who was in Khartoum for the first anniversary of the Revolution in Sudan.
