    India and the Soviet Union are holding bilateral trade talks - and the meetings in Moscow come at a time of suspicion by Kremlin about re-approachment between Delhi and Peking.

    SYNOPSIS: India's Foreign Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee flew into Moscow on Monday (11 September) to be welcomed by Soviet foreign minister Andrei gromyko. Mr. Vajpayee is also to visit China before the end of the year and Soviets are reportedly cager for reassurance on the continued strength of Indo-Soviet relations. The Indian Minister provided Delhi by stating that relations with moscow were an important factor in Indian foreign policies.

    During his week-long visit, Mr. Vajpayee is scheduled to meet President Leonid Brezhnev and Premier Alexi Kosygin. Observers say the Indian and Soviet Foreign Ministers will also discuss ways of expanding trade and economic links between the ir countries.
