Background: Brazilian State Railway Board crews started massive salvage operations in Rio De Janeiro on Friday (18 July) after Thursday's train crash in which at least 11 people were killed and 219 injured.
The crash happened during the evening rush hour.
The train, carrying over a thousand passengers, jumped the rails and smashed into a dancing school.
Police detained the driver after passengers said the train had been speeding.
News of the crash was censored from radio news bulletins, to avoid alarming commute and to prevent a repetition of recent riots over train delays.
However, local newspapers covering the crash put the death toll at over 30.
