  • Description

Democratic Presidential candidate George McGovern took advantage of New York's big Columbus Day parade on Monday (9 Oct.) to meet the local electorate. His reception was described by observers as 'basically sympathetic," although New York's Governor Rockefeller accused Senator McGovern of using the parade for political purposes.

Although Governor Rockefeller is a Republican, New York is predominantly a Democrat state, and Mayor Lindsay is amongst the more recent converts to the McGovern cause. This film is from the N.B.C. and reporter Catherine Mackin, was at the parade (an alternative commentary is provided overleaf).
