At the United Nations on Wednesday (October 2), the Jordanian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zuhayr Al-Mufti, said Arab oil producing countries would use part of their profits to help developing nations in the Third World.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister appealed to the governments of the developing nations to help the oil producers by reducing the red tape so as speed up the implementation of development aid.
The Minister said they hoped goodwill would be accompanied by speedy and practical implementation because bureaucracy had often been a major obstacle. Such red-tape would only frustrate the needs and aspirations of people for a better life.
he said such development projects would also benefit the people in Arab countries, while transforming the surplus funds into a positive factor in the world economy rather than a burden to it.
Mr. Zuhayr then went on to say that the Arab nations and the countries in the Third World were able to absorb a substantial part of the currency surpluses.
