Background: After putting up a heroic fight against the onslaught floods, the town of Rohtak loses its battle against nature. (refer earlier coverage). The rail line embankment gives way to the onrushing waters, and the water spreads itself towards and in the town flooding the streets and main roads. The town has been completely cut off by road and rail except for one entrance by road which is also threatened. The Army has been put into service to fight the onrushing waters and reduce the peoples tragedy and plight as far as possible. In the streets people walked in knee deep water. The population of the city left steadily with the rush of water which had been expected. The town presented a grim look and most walkers were the farmers with their cattle heads from the villages who made way for still more safe places.
