CU Dr. Vivian V. Fuchs speaks:-

"The continent is a vast area about the same size as Europe & the United States put together. With the exception of Amundsens & Scott's journey to the pole only the marginal areas are known."

SCU... "The length of our journey will be about 1,750-miles, and about 1,500 miles of that will be through new territory, not even seen from the air. The objects of the expedition are not only exploratory, but include a number of special scientific studies. For instance, sounding the depth of the Polar ice-cap, which is known to be as much as 8,000-ft. in some places."

CU... "We must do the crossing in the full summer months, or we may be caught on the high icecap in the world's lowest temperatures. We have to leave for the Antarctic at the end of the year & return about 2 years later."
