    The Middle East crisis is due to be discussed in the United Nations General Assembly later this month.

    Foreign Ministers and ambassadors of the 17 Arab League member states met in Cairo on Saturday. Main purpose of the two--day meeting was to work out a unified strategy in advance of the U.N. debate.

    Other matters discussed at the meeting included possible restoration of diplomatic relations with West Germany, severed in 1965 over Bonn's recognition of Israel.

    The ministers heard a report form Egyptian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Riad on developments following the contacts he made at the United Nations, end talks with the recent peace mission by four Africa presidents.

    The meeting was presided over by Libya's Ambassador in Cairo, Mr. Saadeddin Boushewarb.

    SYNOPSIS: In Egypt, a two-day meeting of Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors of the Arab League nations opened on Saturday. Delegations from 17 member nations gathered to discuss latest developments in the Middle East crisis, and to determine a unified strategy before the question is raised in the United Nations General Assembly later this month.

    Egypt's Foreign Minister, Mr Mahmoud Riad, gave delegates a detailed report on the current Middle East situation. He gave an account of his own recent contacted at the United National and the African four-man presidential peace mission which recently visited Israel and Egypt.

    The meeting was chaired by the Libyan Ambassador in Cairo, Mr Boushewarb. Delegates heard Mr Riad affirm that Egypt's attitude to the Middle East crisis was based on the rejection of all unilateral solutions. He accused Israel and the United States of backing away from solutions involving a withdrawal to pre-1967 lines.

    Another subject discussed at the meeting was the possibility of reversing the League's six-year-old decision to break diplomatic relations with West Germany. Egypt has been negotiating with Bonn for some time. pending a joint decision by the League.
