  • Description

Following the recent Arab Summit Conference in Rabat and the United Nations' invitation to the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) to attend the UN's forthcoming debate on Palestine, a number of Palestinian spokesman have recently commented on the situation.

The Head of the PLO's Information Department in Beirut, Said Yasser Abed Rabbo spoke to newsmen on Saturday (2 November).

His theme centred on a censure of the United States' Secretary of State, Dr Henry Kissinger, and his attempts to secure settlement in the Middle East.

Said Ratco said Dr Kissinger had tried to influence the Rabat conference but the resolution in support of the PLO showed that Kissinger had failed. He added that the "attempted blackmail by the United States and Israel had not succeeded" and that the PLO's support from all Arab nations showed the solidarity in the Arab world that existed for the rights of the Palestinian people.

(The central points Said Rabbo's statement appear, in Arabic, on film.)
