Background: A tiny factory which operates from a cottage in an English village is making a most unusual contribution to the nation's expert trade - it is sending miniatures of Hitler for sale in West Germany.

It also sands Napoleon for sale in France for they are part of a wide range of models - mainly of military types - which are in demand in all parts of the world.

The models are hand-made by the firm's staff of six people, who are all housed under one roof. The factory turns out about a thousand models a week, many of them being sold in hand-painting kit form to enthusiasts and collectors.

And although most of the firms's output is concerned with military models, it also makes figures of the Ragency period, Victorian street traders and period furniture.

The models are moulded in either tin alloy, lead, pewter or plastic and are painted with the minutest attention to detail.

SYNOPSIS: Like all the other models produced in this rural factory, Hitler is painted in his true colors -- copied from old photographs and reference books to finish up looking as realistic as possible.

But Hitler is not alone in being sold for export from this miniature production lines. From here, they sell Napoleon to France and a range of dozens of other models to collectors in many different countries ... and they are not all military types. Victorian figures are a popular line.

This business off selling the famous is a thriving one, and orders flow into the cottage from many countries.

And sending Hitler to Germany and Japan is part of a miniature export effort ...

... and shows that o???en giants like him can be cut down to size.
