  • Description

Cheering crowds greeted Tunisian President Bourguiba, Apr 15, as he arrived at Nabeul, Cap Bon, Tunisia, during a tour off the region. Flowers wee thrown at him as his motorcade passed through the streets and the President took the salute on a rostrum as troops marched past.

Speaking at Nabeul, President Bourguiba said that the French press makes him responsible for the continuance of the war in Algeria and that France was asking Tunisians would stay in their territories - even under a hail of bombs.

Earlier this year the President had demanded that France should evacuant Bizerta, Tunisia, under an agreement made with them in 1958. Speaking to the Tunisian Parliament, Apr 7, he said "France believes that she will remain both in Bizerta and in Algeria but she will leave both, of that I am convinced."
