    The 10th Soviet Water Skiing Championships were held in Dnepropetrovsk recently.

    Forty entrants from all parts of the U.S.S.R. competed.

    In the men's jumping championship, Anatoli Radshchinski won the title with jumps of 39.1 and 39.6 metres (128 and 129.8 feet). Well behind were Alexander Erman is second place, and Nikolai Drobilin in third place.

    The over-all men's champion was Alexander Kadylinski from Byelorussia.

    In the women's events, Ekaterina Matyukhina emerged as the over-all champion, ahead of Tatyana Rozzhkova and Inessa Potess.

    Miss Matyukhina, from Moscow, won the jumping event with a distance of 26.3 metres (86.2 feet).

    The team championship, title went to Moscow, with Byelorussia in second place followed by the Russian Federation team.

    SYNOPSIS: The city of Dnepropetrovsk - about five hundred miles south of Moscow - was the venue recently for the tenth Soviet Water Skiing championships. There were forty entrants from the Russian Federation, the Ukraine, Latvia, Byelorussia, Moscow and Leningrad.

    Anatoli Radshchinski won the men's jumping event with jumps of over thirty-nine metres.

    There were three major events -- jumping, slalom and show-skiing. The show-skiing produced some of the most spectacular performances of the competition.

    The jumping event proved to be the most hazardous.

    In the women's events, Ekaterina Matyukhina emerged as the over-all champion, ahead of Tatyana Rozhkova and Inessa Potess. Miss Matyukhina was a member of the winning Moscow team. The overall men's champion was Alexander Kadylinski from Byelorussia.
