  • Description

A 'Valiant' bomber of the Royal Air Force, arrived in Vancouver, Canada, July 5, just ten-and-a-half hours after taking off from the RAF Station at Marham, Norfolk, U.K. Piloted by Air Vice-Marshal M.H. Dwyer, Air Officer Commanding No. 3 Bomber Group, the 'Valiant' had been expected to take fifteen hours on the flight. It was refuelled in mid-air, a little over three miles above Goose Bay, Labrador.

Interviewed on landing, Air Vice-Marshal Dwyer said the flight had been arranged to exercise mid-air refuelling systems. It was a queer feeling, he said, to have breakfast in Britain and arrive in Vancouver in time for lunch.

The return flight - July 8 - is also scheduled to be non-stop.
