  • Description

ITALIAN BOUTIQUES YESTERDAY VENTURED BACK INTO THE 1930'S WHEN THEIR COLLECTIONS WERE ON SHOW IN FLORENCE. ALTHOUGH THE "BONNIE AND CLYDE" LOOK HAS BEEN THE HEIGHT OF FASHION IN MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD IT HAS NOT PREVIOUSLY FOUND FAVOUR IN ITALY. NOW THE BOUTIQUES ARE INCORPORATING SOME OF THE 1930 IDEAS -- POSSIBLY AS A BOOST TO THE EXPORT MARKET.

"FABIANI" OF ROME PRESENTED SLENDER AND YOUTHFUL SUITS AND DRESSES WITH JACKETS. THE JACKETS WERE LONG, WITH ROUNDED FRONTS, WORN OVER SEVERE BLOUSES WITH SCARF TIES AND MALE-LOOKING CUFFS.

FROM "GUIDI" OF FLORENCE CAME AN INTERESTING COLLECTION MAKING MUCH USE OF FLANNEL AND INSPIRED BY BRIGHT COLOUR. SHOULDERS WERE SMALL, WAISTLINES LOW AND SKIRTS LOOSE ABOVE THE KNEE. ALL THE GARMENTS WERE ENHANCED BY CLEVERLY DESIGNED EDGE TRIMMINGS.

"FARAONI" OF ROME KEPT TO HALF-KNEE LENGTH SKIRTS TOGETHER WITH SMALL SHOULDERS, REGULAR WAISTLINE AND SLIGHTLY FLARED SKIRTS.

FOR THE FIRST TIME "KEN SCOTT" OF MILAN PRESENTED AN "APRESSKI" COLLECTION, WITH PRINTED PATTERNS ON A WHITE BACKGROUND. COATS, BOLEROS AND JACKETS WERE LINED ENTIRELY WITH "MONGOLIA".
