    Israel and Syria met today at an emergency session of the MIXED ARMISTICE COMMISSION for the first time in 2 years to discuss last weeks assaults in the Beit Katzir demilitarized zone, southeast of Lake Kinneret.

    Syria has complained that Israelis fired on the divided village of Tawafik. While Israel complained that Syrians fired across the lines on Nov. 6 killing a policeman and wounding another. The Syrian firing occurred on the 3rd. day of drainage work being carried out inside Israel territory between Tawafik village and Beit Katzir.

    The meeting of the M.A.C. took place at the customs house building, used during the French mandate, across the Jordan River on the Damascus road in Syrian territory.

    Israels representatives, Mr. Joseph Tekoah and Major Sivan Teffner, crossed the lines at Bnot Yacov Bridge.
