The political season never ends in the United States... it just goes through peaks and valleys of excitement. Right now, things are at a peak as campaigners are out hustling for the vote. Even New York State's well known Governor, Nelson Rockefeller, is not exempt from the handshaking tours...and the sometimes silly accompaniments. Governor Rockefeller was on Staten Island, which is part of New York City, Saturday 22nd September, for a rally sponsored by the Richmond County Republicans. In previous years, the Governor's campaign menu has included hot dogs, pizza and blintzes. The bill of fare at Richmond included franks, but added a new item, pancakes.
As the fife and drum corps of several American legion groups blared on, the Governor unveiled a tactic usually associated with the American West. He mounted up and off he rode on his horse... in the best tradition of Tom, Mix, Gene Autry... and the American political campaign.
