    THOUSANDS OF PICTURESQUELY-DRESSED AFGHANS FROM THE PROVINCES POURED INTO KABUL FOR THE CELEBRATIONS WHICH INCLUDE GAMES, WRESTLING AND NATIONAL DANCES AT THE GHAZI STADIUM AND A GYMNASTIC EXHIBITION BY STUDENTS FROM KABUL UNIVERSITY.

    A NINE-MAN ORCHESTRA FROM COLOGNE RADIO IN WEST GERMANY GAVE A PERFORMANCE ON TUESDAY (23 AUGUST) IN THE AUDITORIUM OF RADIO AFGHANISTAN TO MARK THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW 100-KILOWATT TRANSMITTER.

    THE CELEBRATIONS WILL END NEXT SUNDAY (28 AUGUST) NIGHT WITH A BIG FIREWORKS DISPLAY.
