  • Description

The British Communist Party today (June 13) organised a rally in London to protest against Britain's proposed entry to the European Economic Community -- the Common Market. More than 5,000 people joined the noisy demonstration during which the crowd listened to speakers in Trafalgar Square, who attacked the Government's Market negotiation tactics. The controversial Industrial Relations Bill -- under which trade union-management agreements are binding by law -- was also criticised.

The demonstrators dispersed quietly after the rally, and no arrests were made. It is only the second large anti-Market demonstration to take place in Britain so far.
