    KENYA'S MINISTER OF ECONOMIC PLANNING, MR. TOM MBOYA, YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) OPENED THE FIFTH ANNUAL KENYA HOMES EXHIBITION IN NAIROBI.

    ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE PAM, MR. MBOYA TOURED THE EXHIBITION - THE BIGGEST OF ITS KIND IN THE COUNTRY.

    THIS TEAR THE EXHIBITION ATTRACTED 58 EXHIBITORS, FROM HOUSE BUILDERS TO SEWING MACHINE MANUFACTURERS, AND THE STANDS ALSO INCLUDED HOMECRAFTS SUCH AS COOKING, WEAVING AND SEWING.

    MANY LOCALLY MANUFACTURED ITEMS WERE ON SHOW, AND IN HIS SPEECH AT THE OPENING CEREMONY MR. MBOYA SAID THAT KENYA WAS GRADUALLY BECOMING KNOWN FOR THE QUALITY OF GOODS IT COULD PRODUCE. HE SAID THE WORDS - "KENYA MADE" - WOULD SOON BE A BYWORD FOR QUALITY.

    AMONG THE STANDS VISITED BY MR. AND MRS. MBOYA WERE THE GERMAN VOLUNTEERS STAND, THE USSR STAND WHERE HE SAW COPIES OF THE BOOKS OF LENIN, AND THE EAST AFRICA BUILDING SOCIETIES STAND.
