SYNOPSIS: Prince Salman met Britain's new Prime Minister at her official residence Number Ten Downing Street in London. He delivered to Mrs Thatcher, Saudi King Khalid's congratulations on her recent election victory.
As the governor of Riyadh, Prince Salman is closely involved with his country's policies on oil. He assured mrs. Thatcher that Saudi Arabia was trying to limit increase in the price of oil . In the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Saudi Arabia has traditionally taken a moderate stand and opposed price rises. Prince Salman said the main purpose of his visit to Europe was to present his country's position on the general problem of the world energy crisis and oil prices in particular.
The Prince and Mrs Thatcher also discussed the Middle East situation and the recent peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. Prince Salman said his country was totally opposed to the policies of Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat.
