    FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1957, A WEST GERMAN GOVERNMENT DELEGATION IS IN YUGOSLAVIA FOR TALKS WITH PRESIDENT TITO'S GOVERNMENT. THE DELEGATES ARRIVED IN BELGRADE YESTERDAY - THE FIRST REPRESENTATIVES OF WEST GERMANY TO GO THERE SINCE WEST GERMANY BROKE OF RELATIONS WITH YUGOSLAVIA IN 1957, WHEN YUGOSLAVIA RECOGNISED THE EAST GERMAN GOVERNMENT.

    WEST GERMANY HAD FORMERLY KEPT UP DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH YUGOSLAVIA FROM 1951 UNTIL 1957. WHEN THE LINKS WERE SEVERED, THE WEST GERMAN DIPLOMATS IN BELGRADE WITHDREW AND THE OLD GERMAN EMBASSY IN THE CITY WAS HANDED OVER TO THE PROTECTION OF THE FRENCH EMBASSY.

    YESTERDAY'S DELEGATION FROM BONN WAS MET BY YUGOSLAV SPECIAL AMBASSADOR LALOVIC. TALKS BETWEEN THE DELEGATION AND YUGOSLAV GOVERNMENT CHIEFS ARE EXPECTED TO LAST SEVERAL DAYS.
