  • Description

Entrants in this year's miss World contest have been busy in London attending all the official functions leading up to Thursday's (15 November) final judging. On Sunday (11 November), they posed for photographs at the traditional meet the press reception.

SYNOPSIS: The photographic session, which gives the world's press a chance to meet the entrants, was held at a London Hotel. This year, girls from more than seventy countries are taking part in the contest.

As always, the contest is being closely followed by the bookmaker, who've already started giving odds on the likely winner. And the punters have been quick to support their favourites.

Of these girls, Miss bermuda is rated at 14-to 1. The glittering contest itself will take place on Thursday night in London's Royal Albert Hall. It will be televised live around the world. By then, the betting order is expected to have changed a little, it's thought Miss Australia will still bee among the front runners.

She's presently lying fourth, with a 12 to 1 chance.

Local support has been a definite factor in this year's contest, with the result that Miss United Kingdom is the current favourite at 7 to 1, ahead of Miss Sweden and Miss West Germany, who are tied at ten to me.

Miss USA is also given a good chance, but, for the moment, the tip is Miss U.K.
