    PRESIDENT DIORI HAMANI OF NIGER, PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY OF THE IVORY COAST, GENERAL SOGLO OF DAHONEY AND LIEUTENANT-COLONEL EYADAMA OF TOGO ARRIVED AT THE NEWLY NAMED "LEON MBA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT" TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL. PRESIDENT MBA DIED IN PARIS LAST WEEK, AND HIS BODY WAS FLOWN HOME FOR BURIAL.

    AT THE PRESIDENTIAL RESIDENCE IN GABON, MOURNERS FILED PAST THE BODY-IN-STATE OF PRESIDENT MBA TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS. ON THE CATAFALQUE WAS A WREATH FROM PRESIDENT DE GAULLE OF FRANCE.

    SILENT CROWDS LINED THE STREETS, AS THE FUNERAL PROCESSION MADE ITS WAY THROUGH A RAIN-DRENCHED CITY. LEADING THE FUNERAL CORTEGE WERE THE LATE PRESIDENT'S WIDOW, MADAME PAULINE LEON MBA, AND THE COUNTRY'S NEW PRESIDENT, M. ALBERT BONGO.

    THE NATIONAL GUARD BAND PRECEDED THE PROCESSION, PLAYING APPROPRIATE MUSIC.

    THE FUNERAL SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED BY MONSIGNOR ADIWAA.
