Background: Major-General Prince Hamad Ben Khalifeh Al-Thani, the Commander of Qatar's army, has been on an official visit to Jordan. While there he had an audience with King Hussein and other Jordanian leaders. Prince Hamad, who is the son of Qatar's ruler, also took the opportunity to see Jordanian military units in training and on exercises in the desert at Zarka, east of Amman, on Monday (July 24).
This is the desert east of Amman, in Jordan, where Jordanian commando units carry out their daily training exercises.
On this particular occasion the training is being watched by the Commander-in-Chief of Qatar's Army, Major-General Prince Hamad B???n Khalifeh Al-Thani.
Prince Hamad went to Jordan for a few days at the invitation of the Chief of the Jordanian Army, Field Marshal Hales-El-Majali.
He wanted to see for himself how Jordan's troops were trained. And this visit, to the Infantry School at Zarka, was organised so he could see the commandos. At the present time, fifteen Qatari officers are being trained in Jordan. It's part of a scheme of co-operation between the armies of the two Arab states.
Prince Hamad, who is the son of the ruler of Qatar state, Sheikh Khalifeh Al-Thani, arrived in Jordan on Saturday. One of his first engagements was an audience with King Hussein. He also met Prince Hassan and had talks with Chief of Staff Field Marshal Habes-El-Majali and his deputy.
