THREE OF THE FEDERAL NIGERIAN DELEGATES TO THE ADDIS ABABA PEACE TALKS STOPPED OVER BRIEFLY AT ACCRA ON TUESDAY ON THEIR WAY BACK TO LAGOS. AT ACCRA AIRPORT, THEY TALKED TO NEWSMEN, SAYING THEY HAD TRIED TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MAKE THE TALKS A SUCCESS.

THE THREE MEN WERE MR. ALHAJI AYIDA, PERMANENT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY TO THE FEDERAL NIGERIAN MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC AFFAIRS WHO WAS HEADING THE DELEGATION IN THE ABSENCE OF CHIEF ANTHONY ENAHARO, WHO WAS ON A VISIT TO LONDON; DR. DOUGLAS, ONE-TIME ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF THE EASTERN REGION OF NIGERIA, WHICH NOW CALLS ITSELF BIAFRA; AND MR. ALHAJI AKILU.

MR. AYIDA SAID THEY HAD BEEN UNDER INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE THE TALKS WITH THE BIAFRAN REPRESENTATIVES A SUCCESS. ON THE QUESTION OF RELIEF FOR BIAFRA, HE SAID THAT THE PEOPLE OF BIAFRA NEEDED MORE THAN POWDERED MILK AND TINNED FOOD.
