Yesterday Thursday (May 15) - Iraq executed ten men on charges of spying for the United States, Israel and Iran, bringing to 36 the total shot or hanged for espionage offences in Iraq this year. None of the ten was described as Jewish and their bodies were not put on public display as in previous cases.
According to Radio Iran, broadcasting the day before the executions, 7,838 Iranians had been expelled from Iraq. Iranian officials had been warned that some 20,000 refugees could be expected from Iraq within the next days. An estimated one million Iranians lived in Iraq,while some 200,000 Iraqis live in Iran.
