SYNOPSIS: President Tito of Yugoslavia left India for Egypt on Wednesday after a four-day official visit for major talks with Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi. Among those who saw him off at the airport were Indian President Varagiri Giri and his wife. Before leaving, President Tito and Mrs Gandhi issued a joint statement warning that the Pakistan crisis could deteriorate further if a solution was not found quickly. Among other subjects they discussed was India's recent friendship treaty with the Soviet Union -- described as "a new step" by President Tito, for both Yugoslavia and India are leading non-aligned nations. But, he told Mrs Gandhi, it was acceptable under the circumstances.
In Cairo, President Tito and his party were greeted by Egyptian President Sadat and some of his cabinet ministers. The Yugoslav leader was there on a one day visit for talks including the role that non-aligned nations could paly in settling the Middle East conflict. Shortly after his arrival, the two leaders held their first discussion -- on the Middle East and bilateral relations. President Tito also briefed the Egyptian leader on his talks in India, Iran and other countries he had visited recently.
Later, the two men visited the grave of President Nasser in Nasser's Mosque, where President Tito paid tribute to the late Egyptian leader with a wreath laid on his tomb. President Tito was due to leave Cairo for home the following day before starting a tour of the United States, Canada and Britain. President Sadat, meanwhile, is due to visit Yugoslavia next month.
