  • Description

Ron Flockhart, 38, noted Scottish racing-car driver and aviator, was killed today in a plane crash in the Danderongs, about 28 miles from Melbourne.

His red Mustang fighter plane crashed into hillside off the Monbulk-rd., near Kallista, in a thick bank of fog.

This was the Mustang in which Flockhart planned to fly solo to England next week in an attempt to break the record for a single-engine plane.

Flockhart's wife, Gillian, a former air hostess, went to England from Australia about three weeks ago to prepare hero's welcome for him. They had their first wedding anniversary last month.
