  • Description

This afternoon MK Aridor of the Likud (opposition) party tabled an urgent motion for the agenda on the "government's sell-cut" during the talks for a further disengagement agreement with Egypt. MK Aridor was strongly attacked by the Left, ,when asking the government to make no more concessions and simply break off negotiations under the threat of an Egyptian ultimatum. PM Rabin in his answer broached relations with the USA and refuted statements that the US was forcing Israel into a compromise but insisted on sticking to the agreement to keep the delicate negotiations secret. He also reminded Egypt that all arrangement have to be kept on a reciprocal basis and declared that Israel has long ago agreed to extend the UN mandate for another 6 months.- The House voted unanimously to discuss the talks after an announcement on the subject will be made by the government at the opportune time.
