    JAPAN'S YOSHISUKE SATO CHALKED A NEW RECORD IN THE 200 METRES BUTTERFLY EVENT WITH A TIME OF 2 MINUTES 13.1 SECONDS, LEAVING HIS AUSTRALIAN RIVAL, 15-YEAR-OLD KEVIN BERRY, TO TAKE THE SECOND POSITION.BERRY CLOCKED 2 MINUTES 14 SECONDS WHILE SADANAGA OF JAPAN WAS THIRD.

    A FORMER CHAMPION, YAMANAKA SPECIALLY RETURNED FROM THE UNITED STATES TO COMPETE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS.HE, HOWEVER, CLOCKED 4 MINUTES 21.7 SECONDS TO BE PLACED SECOND.
