In Argentina art experts are keeping a close watch on boy artist who's only 14 years old. He's Claudio Bogino, and many believe he's one of the most promising painters in the world.
SYNOPSIS: Claudio's a student at the Montserrat School of Fine Arts in Cordoba -- Argentina's third largest city. One of his most amazing efforts so far is a superb reproduction of Michelangelo Carvallo's "Crucifixion of St. Peter". professors and visitors to the school claim the copy is almost flawless. They young artist said he painted it at the request of fellow students for a raffle. But now it's locked away in the Professors' room at the college. At present he's working on a reproduction of "Natividad". Before he starts he makes detailed sketches from the original.
Another challenging reproduction he's working on is the picture "Death". Claudio says he paints six hours a day and enjoys copying the old masters. He says it teaches him technique and great patience. As well as receiving lots of encouragement from his teachers he also gets plenty of support from his parents. They're both prominent physicians in Cordoba.
As gilts for friends he's painted copies of "The Drunkard" by Velazquez and others by Rembrandt. But despite his outstanding talent for copying he's also keen on putting down his own thoughts on canvas. And like most of the old masters -- what better subject than himself.
