With its success assured, the Ford Motor Company of Great Britain have produced a completely new, radically styled four seater car. New in every detail - styling, engine 4-gear transmission, suspension and furnishing - the new 'ANGLIA' has already secured an order of 35,000 from America, and orders for Europe and other countries have been doubled...
Outstanding design feature is a unique reverse angle rear window. It affords more headroom over a wider area, and more protection from the summer sun for rear passengers. In winter the window remains frost and snow free.
Another design highlight is the rear passenger-window. This is mounted on swing hinges, and can be angled to conform with comfort requirements.
A completely new, four cylinder, water-cooled overhead valve 997cc engine has been designed and developed for the 'ANGLIA' with a compression ratio of 8.9 to 1 it produces 39 BHP (nett) at 5,000 rpm. At 50 mph with a fully laden car, fuel consumption averages 44 mpg. At 40 mph, 49 mpg. this new engine is 'oversquare', i.e. bore is greater than stroke. The short stroke reduces piston speed, thereby increasing engine life, and the larger bore permits using bigger "easier-breathing" valves and large, heavy duty bearings.
Tested for road holding over some of the world's toughest courses, the 'ANGLIA's' suspension has proved to be impressive.
The standard 'ANGLIA' retails at GBP589 and the de-luxe version at GBP610 including purchase tax.
