TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 11: ROGERS: "During my visit here I will discuss with His Majesty and the leaders of the Jordanian Government, ways in which the United States can help Ambassador jarring promote a peaceful settlement of the Arab-Israeli problem. This must be done in accordance with the Security Council resolution of November 22nd 1967....a resolution which (indistinct) my Government's support. Only on the basis of that resolution, and through the negotiating processes of Ambassador Jarring can the United States Government see realistic prospects for a (indistinct) settlement. We shall also be discussing various tentative ideas that have been advanced, looking towards re-opening the Suez Canal. No Suez Canal Settlement, as desirable as it may be, can be a substitute for (INDISTINCT) and final solution. No one can under-estimate the obstacles that lie ahead."
