Background: THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC AMBASSADOR TO BRITAIN, AHMED HASSAN EL FEKI, SPOKE OUT TODAY (TUESDAY) ON THE MIDDLE EAST SITUATION. THE AMBASSADOR, WHO WAS AMONG FOREIGN GUESTS ATTENDING THE LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE IN BRIGHTON, U.K., MADE HIS STATEMENT AT THE SEASIDE RESORT'S HOTEL METROPOLE.

THE AMBASSADOR SAID HIS COUNTRY HAD TRIED BY PEACEFUL MEANS TO RECOVER ITS TERRITORIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION OF NOVEMBER 22, 1967. IF IT DID NOT SUCCEED, THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC WAS READY TO FIGHT.

HE SAID THE ARAB STATES WERE DETERMINES TO LIBERATE THEIR TERRITORIES.

HE SAID HE HAD CHOSEN BRIGHTON FOR THIS PRESS CONFERENCE BECAUSE THE LABOUR PARTY, AS THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT, ACCEPTED THE SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION. HE HAD COME TO REMIND THE LABOUR PARTY AD THE BRITISH PEOPLE THAT THE RESOLUTION HAD NOT BEEN IMPLEMENTED.

HE POINTED OUT THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF GREAT BRITAIN, LIKE THE GOVERNMENT OF FRANCE, IS A PERMANENT MEMBER OF THE SECURITY CONNCIL, AND SAID HE WISHED THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT WOULD TAKE THE SAME LINE AS THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT.
