THE U.S. AIRCRAFT CARRIER "RANDOLPH" WAITED 300 MILES OUT IN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN FROM CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, JULY 21, WITH HELICOPTERS READY TO PICK UP FROM THE SEA SECOND U.S. ASTRONAUT CAPTAIN VIRGIL GRISSOM AND HIS CAPSULE.

AT THE END OF THE FLIGHT, THE CAPSULE FLOATED DOWN BY PARACHUTE - THE FIRST PART OF THE OPERATION WAS A COMPLETE SUCCESS, AND GRISSOM WAS PICKED UP BY ONE HELICOPTER FROM THE SEA AS WATER POURED INTO THE CAPSULE.

MEANTIME THE HELICOPTER WITH GRISSOM ABOARD WENT BACK TO THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER "RANDOLPH" TO RECEIVE CONGRATULATIONS ON HIS SUCCESSFUL FLIGHT. NO EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO SALVAGE THE GBP700,000 CAPSULE AND ITS SECRETS - LYING 2,800 FATHOMS DOWN.
