DEMOLITION TEAMS TODAY (SUNDAY) CONTINUED SIFTING THROUGH WRECKED BUILDINGS IN A SEARCH FOR UNEXPLODED BOMBS SCATTERED BY THE CRASH OF A CANBERRA JET BOMBER IN THE RESORT TOWN OF NHA TRANG, 250 MILES (400 KILOMETRES) NORTH EAST OF SAIGON ON FRIDAY.

FOURTEEN PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 82 OTHERS, INCLUDING 15 UNITED STATES SERVICEMEN, WERE INJURED WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED.

THE CANBERRA, CARRYING 16 BOMBS, CRASHED AFTER BEING HIT BY GROUND FIRE FROM VIET CONG -- NATIONAL LIBERATION ARMY -- POSITIONS. THE CREW OF THE PLANE BEFORE BAILING OUT HAD SET THE CONTROLS SO THE CANBERRA WOULD FLY-OUT TO SEA. HOWEVER, THE PLANE TRAVELLED IN AN ARCH, CRASHING ON NHA TRANG.

A UNITED STATES MILITARY SPOKESMAN SAID TODAY IT WAS BELIEVED AT LEAST FIVE 250 LB (113 KILOGRAM) FRAGMENTATION BOMBS WERE STILL LYING BURIED IN THE RUINS OF SIX BUILDINGS IN NHA TRANG'S BUSINESS SECTION. TWO CITY BLOCKS WERE SEALED OFF WHILE THE SEARCH WENT ON.

YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) FIVE UNEXPLODED BOMBS WERE RECOVERED FROM THE DEBRIS. THEY WERE TAKEN BY BOMB DEMOLITION WORKERS TO A BEACH SOME MILES AWAY AND EXPLODED.

THE DEPUTY COMMANDER OF THE UNITED STATES SECOND AIR DIVISION, MAJOR GENERAL GILBERT MEYERS HAS EXPRESSED HIS SYMPATHY TO THE PEOPLE OF NHA TRANG FOR THE ACCIDENT.
