The President of Uganda, General Idi Amin Dada, yesterday (Thursday) officiated at the graduation ceremony of Kampala's Makarere University -- Uganda's highest seat of learning. President Amin is also Chancellor of the University.
Graduating were 196 students of the 3427 enrolled at the University during lest year. They come mainly from Uganda, Kenya and tanzania -- with a few from other countries as well.

The President of Uganda, general Idi Amin Dada, is also the Chancellor of the University -- and in this capacity he attended the graduation ceremony there on thursday. He was accompanied by Vice-Chancellor Kalimuzo and Education Minister Rugumayo.
Last year there was a capacity enrolment of three thousand four hundred and twenty seven students at Makerere. More than two-thirds were from Uganda -- while 259 came from Kenya, 210 form Tanzania, and the rest from other countries. Of these, 196 passed their finals and graduated -- and proudly heard their names called out by the Dean of Faculties. (PAUSE) Then they filed up to the rostrum where they were given their degrees by President Amin.
