President Kennedy and Dr. Heinrich von Brentano, the West German Foreign Minister, had a 75-minute?
President Kennedy and Dr. Heinrich von Brentano, the West German Foreign Minister, had a 75-minute conference in Washington, Feb 17, on the question of Bonn's contribution towards easing pressure on the dollar.
A joint communique issued after the meeting said West Germany was prepared to undertake a long-term aid programme for underdeveloped countries. A German Foreign Office spokesman explained that no specific figures had been discussed, but Herr von Brentano had made it clear that the annual contribution would be about GBP357 millions. West Germany had previously agreed to a one-year programme for 1961 costing this amount.
