INTRODUCTION: Exotic holidays along a sun-soaked bach inspire Paco Rabanne's Spring-Summer collection unveiled last Wednesday (19 January) in Paris. Bright, bold colours, and long skirts with a slight African influence are the theme of this year's designs.
This silver ensemble with its see-through blouse and knee-length shorts is part of his beach-wear collection. Not so brief, but just as daring seems to be the theme. the outfit carries with it a feeling of metallic severity which contrasts strangely with most of the other items in the collection.
The ethnic trend is still very much alive this year. Rabanne has chosen this Bohemian style outfit, consisting of a wide flaired gypsy skirt and smock blouse gathered at the waist. The full wide sleeves accentuate a free, ultra-feminine look.
For the afternoon and evening we have this lovely soft, flowing gown with floral overskirt. The bright yellow colour reminds one of exotic fruits, pineapples and bananas adoring distant sunny islands. shoes will range from ultra-flat heels to wedges and pedestal healed sandals laced round the ankles.
This elegant evening gown is also typically Rabanne. The classic black full-length skirt is off-set by a bright gold sequined waistcoat. Corselet bodies, to show off a trim waist will also be popular. Accessories too, are always a good way to update a wardrobe -- as we can see here with this butterfly, bow-tie touch.
