Background: India and Spain signed an agreement on the peaceful uses of Atomic Energy in New Delhi on Friday (15 December).
It was signed by Mr. Homi Sethna, chairman of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission, and Spanish Ambassador Senor Guillermo Nadal, in the presence of Spain's Foreign Minister, Senor Gregorio Lopez Bravo, and Indian Foreign Minister, Swaran Singh.
The agreement extends for five years a 1965 accord, which provides for the exchange of nuclear information and scientists between the two nations. It also provides for collaboration on joint projects. Spain has supplied uranium concentrate to India in the past.
