    First training ship of the West German Navy, the Glasgowbuilt former British Navy Oakley, was commissioned on Saturday at Bremerhaven.

    The ship has been renamed the Gneisenau. The previous vessel with this name was sunk in Kiel harbour by RAF bombers in 1942, it was a pocket battle-ship.

    Gen, Rottiger, Inspector of the West German Army, was the principal speaker at the ceremony and it was he who performed the official task of commissioning the vessel.
