Background: Real Madrid of Spain, seeking their seventh European soccer cup title, swept to the semi-final at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on Wednesday night (21 March) with a crushing 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev of the Soviet Union.

Real Madrid, who had held the Russians to a scoreless draw in the first leg of the quarter final played at Odessa two weeks ago, burst into life from the start and led 1-0 form the second minute after an indirect free kick from Amancio was headed into the net by Santillana.

The second goal, in the 35th minute, resulted from more clever play Amancio and Santillana when the ball was smashed into the back of the net by outside left Aguilar.

The second half was a continued story of domination by Madrid and the third goal was slammed in by the magnificent Madrid attacker Amancie in the 87th minute.
