  • Description

Two British Army cadets, Peter Barnard, 21, and Gordon Humble, 20, who ran away from Sandhurst, April 30, were brought back to Dover, U.K. under military escort, June 24.

They had crossed the Channel aboard the steamer Invicta after being released yesterday following the alteration of their French prison sentences, which they received June 7 at Trascon, France, for the theft of two auto-cycles. Later their three month sentences were suspended to six.

Their escorts hustled them past an army of waiting Press photographers and reporters straight into two closed cars. Both cadets will be kept under close arrest at the R.E.M.E.Depot at Aborfield, in Berkshire pending any proceedings that may be taken under the Army act.
