    HE THEN SAID IF ELECTED HE WOULD GO TO WASHINGTON TO PRESS PRESIDENT JOHNSON FOR THE RETURN OF FORMER JAPANESE ISLANDS, INCLUDING OKINAWA, THE SITE OF HUGE AMERICAN BASES, AND THE WANTED THE KURIL ISLANDS, OCCUPIED BY THE SOVIET UNION, TO BE RETURNED TO JAPAN.
